To paint in this part of the world is such fun! As an artist based in South Wales, it’s so easy to find inspiration..the rugged coastlines, rolling hills, intriguing towns and the dramatic skies that define this beautiful country.
My work is a celebration of the ever-changing natural world, particularly the way light falls across the land and the water, evoking a sense of both peace and power. I feel connected to the coastal landscapes of Wales, and my aim is for each brushstroke to capture the vibrant hues of the sea, the rich greens of the valleys, and the bright tones of our quaint houses. The scenes I paint are not just a representation of place; they are an emotional response to the environment around me.
Colour plays a central role in my art, as I believe it has the power to convey the mood, energy, and atmosphere of a moment. The Welsh landscape, with its shifting light and weather, offers endless opportunities to experiment with bold, vibrant colours and subtle gradations. Whether it’s the deep blues and turquoises of the sea or the warm golds and reds of the end of the day, my paintings invite the viewer to experience the raw beauty of God’s world.
Through my work, I hope to share my love of Wales and its landscapes, while capturing the timeless relationship between land, towns, sea and sky.
